Arsene's post-Fulham, and therefore post-season comments....

"Congratulations to Chelsea, to Carlo Ancelotti and his players. He behaved very well the whole season.

"For us it was important to finish well and we did it. We have gone beyond expectation, if you look at July, but of course we are still frustrated, because one month ago we were in touch with the championship, but did not win it.

"Overall we had a season with a good attitude and strong character, the team has improved a lot on that front, but overall we conceded too many goals to win the championship.

"We did not have the players available in the last six weeks to fight for the championship. When you go into the final sprint, you need your squad available. We had too many injuries.

"It is a shame because we have gone out in the quarter-finals of the Champions League to the holders and have been beaten by Chelsea and Manchester United, who have strong squads.

"We were just a fraction short."

Arsene after the shambles at Wigan...
"I believe we were not focused, not disciplined and were caught. In football you have to stay focused for 90 minutes otherwise you run the risk of being punished.
"That is especially the case against a team with nothing to lose, fighting not to go down. You knew they would not give up, and in the end we were punished for that.

"Even at 2-0 I never thought the game was over. I could see we were having difficulties keeping the ball, creating other chances, and when you do not create chances in football you are in trouble.
"After going 2-0 up our game lacked cohesion and discipline, and I always felt we could be punished."

"My target is to win the next game, that's all we can do. Manchester City and Spurs can still catch us, so we have to win at least one of our remaining games."

"All I know is if we had won today then we would have been back in it."
