Arsene's post-Fulham, and therefore post-season comments....

"Congratulations to Chelsea, to Carlo Ancelotti and his players. He behaved very well the whole season.

"For us it was important to finish well and we did it. We have gone beyond expectation, if you look at July, but of course we are still frustrated, because one month ago we were in touch with the championship, but did not win it.

"Overall we had a season with a good attitude and strong character, the team has improved a lot on that front, but overall we conceded too many goals to win the championship.

"We did not have the players available in the last six weeks to fight for the championship. When you go into the final sprint, you need your squad available. We had too many injuries.

"It is a shame because we have gone out in the quarter-finals of the Champions League to the holders and have been beaten by Chelsea and Manchester United, who have strong squads.

"We were just a fraction short."

Arsene after the shambles at Wigan...
"I believe we were not focused, not disciplined and were caught. In football you have to stay focused for 90 minutes otherwise you run the risk of being punished.
"That is especially the case against a team with nothing to lose, fighting not to go down. You knew they would not give up, and in the end we were punished for that.

"Even at 2-0 I never thought the game was over. I could see we were having difficulties keeping the ball, creating other chances, and when you do not create chances in football you are in trouble.
"After going 2-0 up our game lacked cohesion and discipline, and I always felt we could be punished."

"My target is to win the next game, that's all we can do. Manchester City and Spurs can still catch us, so we have to win at least one of our remaining games."

"All I know is if we had won today then we would have been back in it."

A very deflated Arsene Wenger's post-Spurs comments...
"It will be difficult, yes, now of course.

"We'll continue to fight but it makes it very difficult.
"As long as it's not mathematically impossible it is not impossible.
"Our job is to fight and we will do that, but even if they drop points we are far behind."

Arsene's post-Wolves comments....

"It keeps us in the title race, yes. If we had not won, it would have been finished. You know if you are five points behind Chelsea with five games to go, you can forget it, but with three points it is feasible.

"We have a difficult programme but they have a difficult programme as well."

"It was important to forget Barcelona for 24 hours and focus on today's game, and that was not easy. But we did it well - I think we had a good focus. We were a bit jaded physically, but we kept going and we were serious, we didn't make a mistake at the back.

"In the end we got a deserved victory against a resilient Wolves team who had a great goalkeeper. We kept it late, as with many times, but overall we deserved to win the game."

"Bendtner is a player who can take critics. He responds well to it and has that strength. I believe he is improving, which is not unusual for a young player at 22. There is still room for improvement, but he is becoming more of a team player and is working hard. It is all positive."

"I calculated how many games we have to play and how far we can go if we win all our games, 86, so I decided that 86 will do it".

Arsene's post-Barca comments...

"We played against a great team who were dominant in the early part of the game, that's when we were lucky. We gave them too much room to play. But a lot of credit must go to the players who kept us in the tie.

"They are an outstanding team but most of their shots on goal were in the first part of game and at 2-0 down we had to throw everything forward."

"You have to trust how the player feels and trust the medical people. Fabregas said he was ready to play. He has fantastic mental strength and didn't give up. The whole team were mentally unbelievable and we kept going and kept going.

"Gallas has a calf strain and will be out for a while now. I took a gamble that didn't pay off. Yes I regret that now. Arshavin has also done his calf."

"Walcott had a huge impact when he came on. He has qualities which can be useful on a big pitch like the Nou Camp.

"We can still qualify. We have to study how we can win the ball back. When we did that we always looked dangerous against them. We have to go for it.

"It would be a big achievement but we believe we can do it. In the first part of the game they could have picked us off, but on the counter attack we can be dangerous. It was a great football match with two teams who went for it. It was an exceptional match."

Arsenal - West Ham United

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes his side have the qualities to win the Premier League title this year after seeing them beat West Ham on Saturday.

Despite having Thomas Vermaelen sent off, the Gunners beat the Hammers 2-0 to go top of the table by a point.

"We have a good chance to do it this year," admitted Wenger.

"We want to win the trophy because we are all conscious we have won nothing yet. The hunger, the talent and I think the nerves are there."

Arsenal were forced to dig deep to overcome the Hammers in Saturday's evening kick-off at the Emirates after seeing Vermaelen dismissed in the 44th minute. Referee Martin Atkinson deemed the defender to have been the last man after he pulled down Guillermo Franco in the box. However, Gunners goalkeeper Manuel Almunia saved Alessandro Diamanti's resultant penalty to preserve the lead given to the home side by midfielder Denilson in the fifth minute.

Captain Cesc Fabregas, back in the side following an injury lay-off, sealed the win from the same spot following a handball by Hammers centre-back Matthew Upson nine minutes from the end.

Arsene's comments after the win at Hull...

"It's maybe not good for my heart, but for the championship it's not. We have eight games to go, we are in there, why should we not believe?

"What I believe especially is that we will give absolutely everything to do it. You saw that in the game today. We were a bit jaded but we kept going. We needed the three points and we got it after the 90 minutes."

"Vennegoor of Hesselink played him in an intelligent way. Sol had no other option than to touch him but there was no intention, it was accidental. And he was offside at the start."

Arsene's post-Porto comments....

"It shows you how football can change very quickly. Nicklas had not lost the confidence, it remains relatively stable. He came back with good focus and the same belief - that is one of his strengths as well."

"The statistics and history were against us, but that just shows those do not mean a lot if you have a team on the pitch who believes they can win the game.

"We played fluent football with a positive start and the early goals gave us the belief we needed. We suffered a bit when we did not control the game at the start of the second half when we were not focused enough.

"Overall, though, we were good to watch and won with style."

"What Nasri has shown in the game, he has shown in training and I have expected that to come out. He has talent and now he starts to be efficient - great players can assist and score goals, he is starting to do that now."

"We do not choose Manchester United or Chelsea. If I say we absolutely do not want to play an English team, we put ourselves in an inferior position at the start. Maybe it is a good opportunity, if we get them, to show we can do well.

"I do not want to say absolutely no English team. If I have a choice, I would say yes, but I do not have a choice. If we get them, we cannot do worse than we did in the championship - we can only do better.

"We will take the draw we get and also we do not have to make a negative obsession of not playing against Chelsea or Manchester United. We are happy to be in the last eight - it is never easy to be in the top eight in Europe.

"The negative side is you only have good teams now - Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, so it will be difficult. At the beginning of the season, nobody expected this team to be where we are, but we showed we have mental strength, we have good desire and good quality.

"I believe it is more important on our side to continue to improve - there are still some weak moments in the game we can deal better with, so before we talk about Barcelona or Manchester United it is important we continue to improve, then we have a chance."

Arsene's post-Burnley comments....

"Theo Walcott gave you the great response you waited for. He does what a player has to do - not talk in the newspapers and let your performance talk on the pitch.

"He didn't answer any critics other than with a good performance today and that's what you want from a player. That shows he is mentally strong. I was quite sure he would respond with a good performance but you never know, it affects you when you get criticised. The way he answered that at his age is remarkable."

"Fabregas has a hamstring problem and how big the damage is we don't know yet because it's too early. We have to make a late decision over whether he plays on Tuesday, certainly. It is the same hamstring he hurt earlier in the season."

"It could have been four, five or six but as well they had a chance to make it 2-2 after a corner. In the end you are happy when you miss the chances we missed today, but you get the three points."

"I believe on the surface he looks like 'okay, I missed the chances', but underneath he is really disappointed. In his finishing, Bendtner missed chance after chance, but if you are a striker, it is like that. You think 'I missed the first one, but I will score the next one'.

"Once you have missed the second one, you are in trouble because after you do not know how to take the third one - do I really go for it, or wait for the ball? That is what happened to him today."

Arsene post-Stoke...

"I'm proud of our game because it was an unbelievable battle from the first minute. We needed to be tough and resilient to win. I'm very proud and of course very sad because of what happened. We know it's a bad injury. We have to transfer him to London tonight to see if he needs emergency surgery.

"We don't know how long he will be out but it's certainly long term.

"I'm not very happy with the tackle. We know what we are expecting, a battle everywhere, but we have now lost three players on horrendous tackles and I refuse to believe it's always coincidence.

"I don't believe it when you are hit as many times as we are. I just believe in what I see and when you see a player getting injured like that it's not acceptable. Commitment is right, but that is not right. All the questions I get in press conferences about we don't fancy the physical side of it, that's the result."

"We could see the team was shocked but this team is very strong mentally and we will do it for Ramsey as well because he deserves it."

Arsene in bullish mood following the victory over Liverpool and other results going our way too...

"I said after the Chelsea game we will fight until the last second of the season. We did that tonight and that's what we will continue to do. Everybody can drop points everywhere. It is open for everybody.

"I don't see any mathematical reason why we shouldn't believe. It can change quickly. We had a big shock in our last two games and the most important thing was to recover and come back with a win.

"We were resilient. We showed good discipline and in the end we got the goal which made it a massive result for us.

"Nobody realises what it is to play Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool on the trot. Physically and mentally it is very demanding especially with the two massive disappointments. It shows the team is solid and mentally strong."

Arsene's post-Chelsea comments....

"You have to congratulate Chelsea. We did not get a demonstration of football but they were efficient and that is what made the difference.

"The first goal contributed to our defeat but apart from that we had great spirit and attitude. We could not get back to 2-1 and get them really wobbling. They defended very well. We were unlucky with one or two decisions from the referee but we had mountains of possession.

"We could not transform it into goals. We had 70% of possession today. We were always attacking but in a big game like that when you are 2-0 down, you demand too much.

"I am completely happy with the performance and spirit. We didn't turn-up against Manchester United but today we had the expected performance. We were completely dominant. I always had the feeling we could come back but you have to give Chelsea credit. They are very experienced at the back.

"We tried very hard and the team gave absolutely everything and sometimes when you lose, you have to acknowledge that as well."

"We are not in the best of positions but we will not give up. It is vital against Liverpool but it was vital today and we still have lost."

Arsene Wenger in the spotlight following yet another capitulation by the team in a big game....
"It's difficult to accept but easy to explain because we were poor offensively and defensively. We delivered an off-the mark performance and that is why we were well beaten. We were naive."

"It was not just Rooney who gave us problems. We gave them too much room everywhere. Rooney took advantage of it. We conceded two goals from a corner for us and it turned into a goal for them. It was our positioning that was wrong.

"It is a massive blow and a massive disappointment but we have to recover from that. It is part of top Premier football. The players are really down."

"They played well and we were completely not at our level. There are some mental reasons. Next Sunday we have to focus on delivering a different performance. Today we were never close in our marking. You do not win big games like that.

"We need to deliver something special now to stay in the race. I am conscious of that."

Arsene's post match comments at Villa Park...
"I believe we dropped two points because we had clear chances, but it was a very difficult game. They stopped us from playing when we had the ball and when they had the ball. They played a very long ball game, closed us down and it was very difficult for us.

"We know when you come here what you get and we were not disappointed. Villa play a very efficient English game with long balls and they are very physical. They did it very well and are a good side when counter-attacking."

Arsene defends his selection....
"The game was more physical than technical, and physically they were stronger than us in a very simple game. We were exposed to a fight, and some of our players were a bit young and could not cope with it.

"I do not regret the side I put out, I did not have much choice. We had 10 injuries and a very difficult programme coming up. Our selection was simple, take a look at our schedule and you must see we cannot play the same 11 every time. That is for sure.

"But if you do not win in such situations, it is my fault. I can only stand by the team I selected in the circumstances, we lost but there was not much room for manoeuvre in terms of players available."

"Were they better than us? Let's say they were more dangerous than us. That is a very important factor in winning games. They do not give me nightmares, you get no surprises when you play at Stoke. You know what to expect, but as the game went on they looked stronger and stronger in one-on-one battles."

"I wanted to avoid a replay, that is why I sent on three experienced substitutes all together. And yes, it worked, didn't it. We have not got a replay!

"We have four very important games now in a short space of time, that is what we are focusing on.

"I wanted to win the game, and the cup. We didn't want to go out, but it was the sort of game that had we played at home we would probably have got away with it, but away from home it was a bit more difficult."

Arsene speaks after 'Bolton - The Return'...

"We had two difficult games against Bolton with a new manager, two cup games almost, and our mental and physical strength was tested again tonight. We are certainly much more physically resistant.

"You cannot find a team better than Bolton in doing what they did tonight - they marked us man to man, didn't give us an inch of space. Physically, you are never better tested than against Bolton."

"I am sorry if the tackle was not good, and I apologise. However, to complain that we went on to play, I think that is unfair. The players did not even know what was happening behind them, whether the player has got up again or not.

"I don't believe you can kick the ball out every time a player is down when you win the ball. That is why they changed the rules.

"Remember Everton: I did not think they should have kicked the ball out, and it was a much more obvious situation. I said it was okay and they might have gone 3-1 up."

"We got some tackles, some big ones, but we had to cope with it. I am sorry if it is a foul, but it didn't look dirty from outside."

Goal:Fabregas '28, Merida '78

Arsene's first Post-Bolton comments of the week, talking about that man Fabregas...

"If you watched the game it is difficult to say how much we have missed him but you don't need to explain to anyone that it is important. I do not see all the games but what is very interesting for us is Cesc gets stronger and stronger and has more personality on the pitch, like the whole team.

"He grows. He will be 23 this year - he is just starting."

"Sometimes it looked, from the outside, that he got harshly treated. That is linked with gifted players. It is difficult to take the ball off them but he is the guy who touches the ball more than anyone else so it is not illogical the opposition should try to stop him playing.

"We expected a fully-committed Bolton team and we were not disappointed. They gave absolutely everything and put us under pressure a lot but we tried to put the ball down and play, sometimes it worked very well during spells in the first half.

"I expected them to drop a little bit at the beginning of the second half as we dropped our level but they had a period for 20 minutes when they had chances and looked dangerous because we lost too many balls in midfield.

"It was important for us not to get to the last 15 minutes only one goal up and the second goal killed the game."

"We are a big club and it happened last year, in October and November, that we were not fighting for the championship. Now we have a chance so let's go."

"We are in a quite interesting position where nobody expected us to be. When the season started we were not all convinced in our squad that we could be where we are today."

Arsene's post-Everton comments...

"We played against a very good Everton team who for most of the game was more dangerous and sharper than us. At the end of the day we dropped two points, but looking at the game we gained one point because we were closer to losing the game than to winning it.

"We got the point because we had the spirit and the desire, but we didn't find our game today. We had problems technically and because Everton stopped us from playing and in midfield they were dominant."

Rosicky's late strike is an important goal because it shows the spirit of the team right until the last minute. With three minutes to go Everton had three or four corners and we didn't get out of the box. At that time I would have signed for a point.

"But we kept going and in the end we got that point which rewards the efforts we produced. We didn't produce the quality we are used to in our team play, we were a little bit flat, but the spirit was there."
